I have been exploring safer and more environmentally-friendly cleaning products for my home. Being a highly-sensitive person, the chemicals in most of our everyday cleaning supplies cause debilitating physical symptoms for me. Headaches, heart palpitations and shortness of breath to name a few. I’ve decided to slowly ditch the toxic cleaning products in my home and introduce cleaners and soaps that are free of the harmful chemicals that can cause cancer and chronic illness.
Non-Toxic DIY Household Cleaners
All Purpose Cleaner
1/2 cup distilled white vinegar
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons baking soda
12-24 drops essential oils (I use Thieves by Young Living)
Bleach
1/2 cup 3% hydrogen peroxide
1/2 cup lemon juice
12 cups filtered water
20 drops citrus essential oil (I use Lemon and/or Orange and Grapefruit)
Glass Cleaner
2 cups distilled or filtered water
2 tablespoons vinegar
10 drops essential oil
Toilet/Shower Cleaner
1/2 cup water
1 1/2 cup baking soda
2 tablespoons white or apple cider vinegar (I use Eucalyptus. I love the small and it leaves me feeling energized!)
Room Spray
1 cup water
1/2 cup witch hazel
25-30 drops of essential oils (I use Lavender or Frankincense)
Dryer Sheets
Wool Dryer Ball
Few drops of Lavender
Stain Remover
1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide
1/4 cup dish soap
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
